White Pizza Recipes Will Tickle Your Fancy!
What Is White Pizza Sauce?
The best way to describe white pizza sauce is that it is a
yummy tummy alternative to the traditional Italian pizza sauce, which is tomato based.
If you were the type of person who likes to drastically change things up, switching from a red tomato based
pizza sauce to a white pizza recipe would be a major change indeed!
All white pizza recipes refer to the absence of a tomato based pizza sauce. That being said, a white sauce could
be describing any number of variations of this special sauce as long as it is white.
Some white pizza recipe sauces use a classic Alfredo sauce. Others use a basic white sauce made with heavy
cream, flour, butter and milk. I’ve even seen white pizza recipes that called for Ranch Dressing! As you can see,
you are only limited by your imagination.
Just so you know, certain people will assert that such and such is “THE” classic white pizza recipe. In
actuality there is no real classic or traditional white pizza sauce. Certain locales claim the sauce they use is
the classic or traditional sauce. Be that as it may, there are a lot of great white pizza sauces out there and
hopefully you can find one or more recipes to tickle your fancy.
Did Italians Use a White Pizza Recipe? Yes, Italians do have a white pizza recipe. It is
comprised of spreading fresh garlic and mozzarella cheese over specially made Italian bread, adding olive oil and
baking till its just right. You can find even more variations of this recipe such as using ricotta cheese, fresh
basil, rosemary sprigs and mozzarella.
What you are going to find is that white pizza recipes are pretty much basic recipes that pack a lot of flavor;
although, I have a very hard time with the Ranch Dressing as a white pizza sauce. C’mon people, who uses ranch
dressing and calls it a white pizza sauce?
Anyhow, when it comes to white pizza sauces, the buzzword is experimentation. You can follow the various recipes
but the real key is starting a basic recipe and going from there. You can never go wrong using a classic Alfredo
sauce.
You can also start with heavy cream and let it reduce for about fifteen to twenty minutes and then add garlic,
sea salt, fresh ground pepper, Once that’s ready, place it on your dough, add your cheese and toppings and bake,
voila!
